If we are not responsible for the thoughts that pass our doors, we are at least responsible for those we admit and entertain.–Charles B. Newcomb

The brain, is an organ that thinks, all the time it creates a constant stream of thoughts, whether or not we choose to do so. If we listen to them intently they are more likely to repeat. This is particularly true if we are strongly attracted to them or repulsed by them. Either way they pull us away from the present moment and into our heads.

Thoughts arise from somewhere in our minds, who knows where they come from. The problem is that we tend to attach too much significance to them. We treat them as though they were something important, something we need to pay attention to. We don’t we can just note them and allow them to move on. And they will move on if we let them.
